A varied exercise routine may be more important for longevity than simply spending more time working out. New research published in BMJ Medicine suggests that people who regularly combine different types of physical activity, such as walking, strength training, cycling, swimming, or recreational sport, may have a lower risk of premature death. Mixing activities challenges the body in different ways, supports cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, balance, and mobility, and may also make it easier to stay active over time.
