Research published in the Journal of the American Heart Association suggests that men diagnosed with takotsubo cardiomyopathy, or “broken heart syndrome,” have a higher risk of death compared to women. Although the condition is more common in women, men in the study experienced more severe outcomes. Experts believe this may be linked to differences in underlying triggers, such as physical illness or exertion, as well as variations in support systems and health status.
