Experts reveal what may have caused a rare barracuda attack

A teenager was injured by a barracuda while swimming in shallow water during a Caribbean vacation, in an encounter experts say may have been triggered by the fish mistaking a flash of light or movement for prey. Barracudas are generally not aggressive toward humans, but their attraction to shiny objects and fast moving targets can sometimes lead to attacks. Experts say such incidents are rare, especially in shallow water, and recommend avoiding reflective jewelry and sudden movements when swimming in areas where barracudas are present.
