A new hope for tinnitus sufferers

HEALTHDAY

Scientists have developed an innovative treatment for tinnitus that offers hope to the millions of people who experience persistent ringing or buzzing in the ears. By targeting the neural networks involved, researchers aim to retrain the brain to ignore these disruptive noises. Studies published in peer-reviewed journals showed that the devices, which use the technique of bimodal neuromodulation, decreased the severity of people’s tinnitus symptoms. However, more comprehensive, independent research is needed to confirm the long term effectiveness of these promising treatments.
