The optimal vacation length for maximum relaxation

Elena Lacey/The Washington Post

A study published in the Journal of Happiness Studies found that a traveler’s health and well-being peak on the eighth day of a vacation. Vacations that are too short might not provide enough time to disengage from work or physically recover from life’s daily stresses. On extended trips, the vacationer might fall into a routine as the initial excitement of travel fades. A vacation lasting around a week strikes the ideal balance of practicality and the psychological benefits of a break, allowing vacationers to fully disconnect from their daily routines, immerse themselves in new experiences, and ensure that they return home feeling truly refreshed and recharged.
