Why some scientists say we shouldn’t eat octopus

Growing research on octopus intelligence and behavior is raising ethical concerns about consuming them. Scientists have found that octopuses are highly intelligent animals capable of problem-solving, learning, and even showing signs of curiosity and emotional responses. Because of their advanced nervous systems and potential capacity to experience suffering, animal welfare advocates argue that eating octopus may conflict with concerns about animal rights and ethical treatment.
