Why movement matters for knee health

When your knee hurts, your first instinct might be to rest and avoid movement. But staying inactive for too long can actually make things worse. Movement helps circulate synovial fluid, the natural lubricant inside your joints that reduces friction, nourishes cartilage, and allows your knees to move smoothly. Without regular movement, your joints can become stiffer, surrounding muscles can weaken, and pain may increase. Gentle activities like walking, cycling, and targeted strengthening exercises help maintain joint mobility, stimulate synovial fluid circulation, and improve muscular support around the knee.
