Many people notice their cough feels worse at night, and doctors say there are several reasons for this. Lying down can cause mucus to pool in the throat, trigger postnasal drip, or increase irritation in the airways. Nighttime coughing may also be linked to conditions like acid reflux, asthma, or allergies, making it harder to get a restful sleep.
