Turmeric is well known for its anti-inflammatory benefits, but like any supplement, it isn’t without risks. Some people may experience mild stomach upset, dizziness, or interactions with certain medications. In higher amounts, turmeric may also reduce iron absorption, which could affect those prone to anemia. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers daily amounts of 4,000–8,000 milligrams safe, including what’s found in both food and supplements. Knowing these potential side effects can help you use turmeric safely while still enjoying its benefits.
