Scientists at the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering are developing next-generation lithium-ion batteries that eliminate the use of harmful “forever chemicals,” or PFAS. These persistent chemicals, commonly found in current battery technology, pose environmental and health risks. The new designs aim to deliver high performance while being safer and more sustainable, marking a significant step toward cleaner energy storage solutions.
