Infertility affects about 1 in 6 people globally, according to the World Health Organization, making it a common but often overlooked public health issue. It can affect both men and women and may be linked to many factors, including age, hormonal conditions, reproductive disorders, infections, lifestyle factors, or unexplained causes. Infertility can carry a heavy emotional, social, and financial burden for individuals and couples hoping to have children. The WHO’s findings highlight the need for earlier evaluation, wider access to fertility care, affordable treatment options, and reduced stigma around reproductive health.
