Heart health genes may influence Alzheimer’s risk

A recent study suggests that people with a genetic tendency toward higher blood pressure or elevated cholesterol may also have an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease. The findings add to growing evidence that brain health and cardiovascular health are closely connected. While genetics cannot be changed, managing blood pressure, cholesterol, diet, exercise, and overall heart health may be important steps in lowering long-term dementia risk.
