How to listen safely with headphones

Listening to music through headphones or earbuds at high volumes can strain your hearing over time. A simple approach is the 60/60 rule: keep the volume at around 60% and limit listening to 60 minutes at a stretch. Taking breaks can help your ears rest and let you enjoy music longer. If you notice ringing in your ears, known as tinnitus, it’s a good idea to lower the volume. Using features like noise cancellation can also help reduce the need for higher sound levels.
