A new study published in JAMA Pediatrics adds to growing evidence that higher levels of screen time in young children may be associated with poorer developmental outcomes. Researchers found links between greater screen exposure and challenges across areas such as communication, problem-solving, and social and motor development. While the findings do not prove that screen time directly causes developmental delays, they highlight the importance of balancing digital media with activities that support early learning, including face-to-face interaction, physical play, reading, and adequate sleep.
