Houseplants are often thought to improve indoor air quality, but studies suggest their impact on air purification is modest. Evidence is stronger for their mental health benefits, as indoor greenery has been linked to lower stress and improved mood. Researchers are also exploring ways to bioengineer plants that could more effectively remove indoor pollutants, potentially enhancing both air quality and well-being.
