High dose biotin can skew diagnostic tests

A study led by researchers at the University of Minnesota highlights that taking biotin (vitamin B7) in large doses, often found in hair, skin, and nails supplements, can interfere with certain blood tests for conditions like hyperthyroidism and heart disease. This may lead to inaccurate results for some assays, potentially affecting how conditions are detected or monitored. If you take biotin supplements, tell your clinician and the lab before testing, and ask whether you should pause biotin for a short period ahead of your labs.
