Common concerns of microwaving plastic

Microwaving isn’t the main issue, heating some plastics is. When plastic containers get hot, small amounts of chemicals can migrate into food, especially if the container is old, scratched, warped, or not labeled microwave-safe, or if you’re heating very hot, oily foods. A simple precaution is to use glass or ceramic when you can, avoid plastic wrap touching food, and replace worn containers over time.
