SuperAgers: Brains that defy age

While the human brain naturally shrinks with age, affecting memory, some rare individuals called “SuperAgers” defy this trend. Their brains remain sharp, allowing them to retain memories and mental agility comparable to someone decades younger. Recent research published in the journal Alzheimer’s & Dementia suggests that SuperAgers often share key lifestyle traits: they tend to be highly social, active in their communities, and maintain a strong sense of autonomy and independence, all of which may help protect their cognitive health.
