Sleeping with the tv on may affect more than rest

Many people enjoy drifting off to sleep with the TV on, but this habit may influence more than just sleep quality. Exposure to light and sound during the night can interfere with the body’s natural sleep cycle and disrupt restful sleep. Research also suggests that people exposed to higher levels of artificial light at night show increased stress-related brain activity, and over time these biological changes have been linked to a higher risk of cardiovascular events. Together, these findings suggest that nighttime light exposure may have broader effects on overall health and wellbeing.
