A new study published in the journal JAMA Network Open warns that as nicotine pouches become increasingly popular, cases of accidental poisonings among young children are also on the rise. Recent research found an increase in reported cases, with toddlers and preschoolers most at risk since the small, flavored pouches can easily be mistaken for candy or chewing gum. Researchers emphasize the need for child-resistant packaging, clearer warnings, and increased parental awareness to reduce the risk of accidental poisonings as these products continue to grow in availability and appeal.
