The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is revisiting a long-debated ban on asbestos, a toxic mineral linked to lung cancer, mesothelioma, and other serious illnesses. Although asbestos use has declined sharply in recent decades, it still appears in certain products and industrial applications. The proposed ban aims to close regulatory gaps, eliminate remaining uses, and better protect workers and the public from exposure to its harmful fibers.
