A tiny surgical robot, known as spaceMIRA, has successfully completed the first surgery demo in zero-gravity at residence at the International Space Station (ISS). Designed for remote operation by surgeons on Earth, spaceMIRA underwent successful remote testing of common surgical procedures with precision. This historic milestone demonstrates the potential for not only performing surgical procedures in space but also for remote surgical care in isolated or inaccessible areas on Earth.
