For older adults, staying mentally engaged through hobbies such as knitting, puzzles, reading, gardening, crafts, or learning new skills may help reduce the risk of dementia and cognitive decline. These activities stimulate different areas of the brain, strengthen cognitive reserve, and encourage problem-solving, memory, and concentration. Research suggests that regularly participating in enjoyable leisure activities can support healthy aging and may help preserve cognitive function and independence for years to come.
